How do you measure the success of a program whose purpose was to inspire young people to think creatively?

How can you possibly quantify the effect of unlocking the potential of developing minds, giving them the raw tools to go forth and make the world better, more beautiful, more open to possibilities?

The The Living Arts Center documentary attempts to answer these questions through following the paths of those directly influenced by their experience and seeing the obvious and often compelling ripples within society that The Living Arts Center experiment set into motion.

The Program

 The Living Arts Center, a ten-year program open to elementary and high school students in Dayton area schools, was born amidst all the turmoil and cultural upheaval of late 1960s America. It was an adventure of the human mind and spirit that brought together diverse groups of school-aged children and presented them with the opportunity to engage their creative minds and explore the potentially transformative realms of Art, Music, Dance, Creative Writing, and Drama. Making this uniquely original program more laudable was its emphasis on character building through teamwork and creative decision-making. Thus, the program not only cultivated artistic achievement and appreciation, but enhanced self-esteem, setting students on their way to becoming successful, empathetic, and productive members of the world community.
